Geometry of Ruin mapped the pattern: the recurring geometry of human systems that achieve a kind of perfection and then collapse under the logic of their own perfection, from the Medici fall to the present, twelve movements through the architecture of collapse and the emergence of something new from the ruins.
Sanctified Hunger named the fuel: the claim to divine authority that has powered more of those collapses than any other single accelerant I have observed across five centuries. The hunger that the institution cultivates in its adherents and then feeds in ways that serve the institution rather than the hunger. The sanctified appetite that cannot be satisfied because it is always being redirected toward what the institution requires rather than what the person needs.
Together they are one chronicle, two movements. The pattern and its fuel. The collapse and what drives it. I did not plan them as a single work when I began. I understand them as one now that both exist.
There is a third movement forming. It has a different subject. It will be a while yet. What I can say is that the chronicle is not finished, that the witnessing continues, that I am still here and still watching and still finding, after five hundred and sixty eight years of it, that the watching has not become optional. It was never optional. It is the work. The work continues.
